Introducing 60-Days Project Based Functional Bioinformatics Internship

Updated: May 26, 2021

Importance of Bioinformatics in Everyday Life

Ever since the development in the field of data science, bioinformatics has become an integral part of many areas of modern biology. In biological sciences, for example, the exceptional pace of recent advances in technology for DNA and genome, sequencing has created a demand for data scientists, to analyze the large amount of data being produced every day. A field specializing in application of computation to biological problems has emerged, presented as bioinformatics.

The ultimate goal of the field is to enable the discovery of new biological insights as well as to create a global perspective from which unifying principles in biology can be discerned. At the core level, Bioinformatics is an emerging field that helps in collecting, linking and manipulating different types of biological information to discover new and useful biological knowledge.

With a large number of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes completely sequenced and more forthcoming, access to the genomic information and synthesizing it for the discovery of new knowledge have become central themes of modern biological research. Mining the genomic information requires the use of sophisticated computational tools. It therefore becomes imperative for the new generation of biologists to initiate and familiarize with a field of study that is concerned with the careful storage, organization and indexing of information in order to tackle the new challenges in the genomic era.

Bioinformatics has not only become essential for basic genomic and molecular biology research, but is having a major impact on industrial level such as: used to improve nutritional quality, to identify and structurally modify a natural product, veterinary science, drug development, personalized and molecular medicine, waste cleanup and alternative energy sources.

BioCode’s Role in Creating Skilled Bioinformaticians Around the Globe by Introducing Functional Bioinformatics Internship:

The spread of global pandemic has disrupted regular routines and upcoming plans like applying and working for internships on a worldwide scale. If you're a new graduate or student who feels like their internship plans are postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. YOU'RE NOT ALONE, WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping students home and safe is a major goal, while still ensuring they aren’t missing out on crucial internship opportunities. BioCode is offering a 60 days project based Functional Bioinformatics Internship, the entirety of which will be conducted online. Functional Bioinformatics Internship program is catered towards the beginner, intermediate and advanced aspirants of bioinformatics. If you're new to the field of bioinformatics and want to start from basics, you can enroll yourself and learn great new skills and implement them on real-life datasets (all of which is taught in this internship). Interns should contain the belief that anyone, anywhere, is able to get the skills and experience they need to start their career without barriers like schedule, or location getting in their way. Internship will be conducted through pre-recorded online lectures, transcriptions, presentations and necessary scripts. Interns will be eligible for a certificate only when they complete the entire period of the internship, assignments and most importantly the project. BioCode provides a coherent and friendly treatment for any student or scientist of all fields of biology such as zoology, botany, microbiology, biochemistry, functional biology, genomics, genetics, cell biology and biophysics who has not routinely performed bioinformatic analysis and will thoroughly enjoy and learn, all with the ease of their home.

Internship Objectives: 1- To enable students to integrate and analyze data from different bioinformatics, biotechnology and genomics research work. 2- To equip the students with updated knowledge of bioinformatics, computational biology techniques, bioinformatics programming & scripting so that they can develop diversified bioinformatics algorithms and tools to perform RNA-Seq/Microarray Data Analysis, Gene Expression Analysis, Viral/Bacterial/Genetic Disease Functional Bioinformatics Analysis, Sequence Alignment and Analysis, Phylogenetic Analysis, Molecular Docking and Drug Discovery -- all in a single internship.

3- To enable students to design and develop efficient and reliable bioinformatics solutions by optimizing the usage of existing tools, databases, packages and libraries.

Preferred Requirements: 1- NO amount of bioinformatics knowledge from the internee is expected before the start of the internship, so don’t worry, it’s all on us -- WE’LL TEACH YOU. We are accepting applications for batch 8. Only 20 seats are available for internship. So, hurry up and get yourself enrolled now.
